iCarnegie Certifications

Newport Business Institute gives students a chance to obtain internationally recognized certifications from iCarnegie. Students that earn an iCarnegie Certification in Computer Programming or Software Systems Development are among the best-trained in that field worldwide – as ensured by the quality of the curriculum created and maintained by iCarnegie and Carnegie Mellon.

iCarnegie’s unique certification exams ensure an authentic assessment, by requiring the students to demonstrate professional-level competence using the exact tools and techniques they will encounter in real-world situations.

  • iCarnegie Certification in Software Systems Development (SSD), After obtaining the iCarnegie Certification in Computer Programming, the SSD Certification represents the student has successfully completed and demonstrated clear competence through certifications in iCarnegie courses 6-10: System Level Programming, Database Systems, Networks & Distributed Computing, Software Specification, Test & Maintenance, and Software Project Organization & Management.

About the iCarnegie Certification Exams
iCarnegie offers a single certification exam for each course at the end of the semester to determine student certification for that course. The pool of exams for a course will cover the entire course content. There will be a multiple-choice part and a practical part. The multiple-choice part will primarily test students’ knowledge of concepts and the practical part will test students’ ability to use and produce various software artifacts. Students are prohibited from using reference books, the Internet, and prior student submissions during the exam. The grader tool from iCarnegie will provide instructors with student submissions without revealing the identity of the student. To grade certification exams, instructors must be iCarnegie Certified Exam Graders.
